Liebster Award Nomination

I was given the honor of being nominated for the  Liebster Award from Laura at Laura's Fat to Fit Journey. Thank you Laura!

The Liebster Award is an online award by bloggers for bloggers to help bring attention to new and upcoming bloggers, typically those with 200 followers or less.

Here's how it works:
1.  You must link back to the person who nominated you.
2.  You must answer the 10 Liebster questions given to you by the nominee before you.
3.  You must pick 10 bloggers to be nominated for the award
4.  You must create 10 questions for your nominees.
5.  You must go to their blogs and notify the nominees.

Here are the questions that the lovely Laura asked me:

1) What's your biggest health/fitness goal?

I want to be able to eventually be able to run a half marathon under 2 hours. Right now I am starting with a goal to take 7 minutes off my time, then I will go from there. Most importantly, I want to have enough energy to be able to keep up with my family. I think it will also be cool if when I got older, I was known as the grandma that still runs.
2) Do you own any pets? If so, What?
Right now we only have fish. We have a large fish tank in our living room and one in my son's room.
3) Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging for many reasons. I wanted to be able to help encourage and motivate others, no matter what stage of life they are in.  I also started blogging to grow my affiliate business Onemoremile. When I get my coaching certification, I will be using my site to offer coaching assistance as well.
4) What is your biggest accomplishment?
I have several! My three beautiful children are some of my biggest accomplishments by far! I can also proudly say that I am a Navy veteran. Just recently I completed my Bachelors in Nutrition Science and I am now a half marathoner!
5) What is your most favorite blog post that you've written? (Provide the link so we can check it out!)
My favorite blog post is the one where I talked about being able to start running again. It's called For the Love of the Run. It took several things to get me back to running and loving it, and where I am today.
6) If you could only choose ONE food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I love Bruschetta!
7) What motivates you?
My friend who is a Navy spouse and a Lupus survivor motivates me. She has three small children and one son now in the Navy. Her husband is constantly on deployments with dangerous missions, since he is an Explosive Ordinance Disposable Specialist. Instead of letting her flare ups and condition define who she was she continued to home school her children and be strong. She fought back. She lost a lot of weight, became a Zumba instructor, received her degree in holistic medicine, treated her condition by going gluten free and using holistic treatments (under control with rare fare ups), and became very active in her community. No one would know by looking at her that she is a Lupus survivor. She was nominated as  the Navy Military Spouse of the Year, and has opened her photography business where donations go to the Wounded Warriors Project, which she takes an active part in as well.
8) What is a favorite quote/motto that you live by?
Run, Focus, Overcome. Running helps remind me that when live gets hard that I am a fighter, an overcomer! It helps me get away, unwind, and renew my perspective on life. Running is my therapy! This is a quote that I also try to live by.

9) Name one thing/item that you could not go a day without.
I could not go with out my cell phone in case the kid's school calls, my husband calls during his lunch break, or an emergency happens. I would feel lost with out it.
10) Tell us something we might not already know about you?
I had the privilege of being stationed on the beautiful island of Sicily when I was in the Navy. My husband proposed to me under the street light on the Italian's side of the military base. It was very romantic but the proposal almost had to be rescheduled since my crazy room mate decided to mix ammoneia and bleach together. I almost had to go to the emergency room but the fresh air helped, although I had lost my sense of smell for a while. Fortunately nothing else happened!
